Jeanne and I have been best friends since 1st grade at St. Peter's. We used to help the nuns clean at the church. We went on retreats together at Columbia Retreat House, where the nuns were always trying to get us to join the convent. She finally did, but didn't stay very long. She said she wrecked the nuns car and I kidded her that's why she left.
I remember sleep-overs at her house and Nonie made polenta and chili and I would never eat it Ugh!!! We were like sisters, always together.
The past few years we got together, Ida, Beryl, Joyleen, Jeanne, and me and we would reminisce about our fun days together in Mt. Carmel.
Since the onset of her illness she has been a rock, even though she was in pain she never complained. She'd always say "I'm taking it a day at a time."
I will miss her very much, but I know she's in a much better place.
